Today, I want to introduce you to Twi adverbs, known in Twi as ɔkyerɛfoɔ. Adverbs are words that modify or describe how actions are done, like in “talk slowly. But they can also describe adjectives (e.g. very tall), other adverbs (e.g. too often), or even entire sentences (e.g. fortunately, no shots were fired).

Adverbs in Twi come in different types depending on the function they perform. In the lessons that follow, we’ll take a closer look at each type and explore some of the most commonly-used Twi adverbs under them.
